Monique Lhuillier Fall 2012

Looks like Jill Stuart isn’t the only designer straying from her sweet ways of spring. For fall, Lhuillier hones in on her craft with a sultry, sexy angle. Rouge and noir lace, cutouts, and edgier leather accents give Monique’s girl a refined, vixen quality, albeit a retro-inspired one. The catwalk was filled with red lips and slicked waves, furthering the 40s feel.

The designer surprised her audience with jumpsuits, as a part of Lhuillier’s effort to expand her non-gown contributions, but rest assured, there are molten-hot dresses, and sequined pieces, too. Metallic paillettes in the shape of licking flames glitter along the entire length of  a dress, while organza and leather  bands make up the skirt of another. Yet, even as all the models came down in the finale, there was a sense that the show wasn’t over — part deux will occur when the stars take Lhuillier’s magnificent looks to the red carpet.

Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, who wore a strapless blue dress and sparkling pumps, seemed to think so, too, as she nodded and whispered with model Camila Alves in the front row.
