Jill Stuart Goes to the Dark Side

Taking a complete 180 from her spring collection, which was filled with cotton-candy pastels and Lolita-like frocks, this season, Jill channels “the dark, magical world of Nick Cave’s women.”

Stuart attains a noir allure with gorgeous lace, patent platform boots, and wine-colored chinoiserie silks. A more mature perspective is displayed in the clean tailored coats, and numerous LBD’s. Nevertheless, there are a few flashes of the girly Jill we all know (and some love), with flowery motifs, bouncy skirts, and sweet tulle dresses, but all tempered with shady hues.

Olivia Palermo came to the show arm-in-arm with Twilight’s Nikki Reed, who is much prettier in person. (Palermo was also much skinnier in person.) They almost looked like sisters, except for the fact that Olivia appeared curmudgeonly and cold, and Reed was cheerful and chatty, raving about the designer. Kelly Bensimon snuck into her seat nearly unnoticed and spent the whole show having a tête-à-tête with Giants wide receiver Ramses Barden.

Check out my exclusive interview with the fabulous Jill Stuart who even gave a shoot out to all you readers!
